< Listen to the Five Usui Principles in Japanese >

In 1999, at one of our Japanese Reiki Workshops in the United States, Chetna recorded the Five Usui Reiki Principles in Japanese. We've included her voice recording on this page. You will need to have the QuickTime 4 plugin installed in your web browser to be able to hear this audio file. If you already have this plugin installed, you will see a controller bar sitting on top of the arrow following this paragraph. "Hello, this is Chetna Kobayashi.

I would like to help you learn to pronounce the five Reiki principles in Japanese:

First I will recite the whole text which came from the original document written by Dr. Usui:

Shoufuku no hihoo
(The secret method to invite happiness)
Manbyo no ley-yaku
(The spiritual medicine for all diseases of body and mind)
Kyo dake wa
(Just for today)
Okoru-na
(Don't get angry)
Shinpai suna
(Don't worry)
Kansha shite
(Show appreciation or, be grateful)
Goo hage me
(Work hard)
Hito ni shinsetsu ni
(Be kind to others)
Asa yuu gassho shite kokoro ni neji kuchi ni tonaeyo
(Mornings and evenings sit in the gassho position and repeat these words out loud and in your heart)
Shin shin kaizen, Usui Reiki Ryoho
(For the improvement of body and soul, Usui Reiki Ryoho)
Chosso Usui Mikao
(The founder Mikao Usui)

Now I will focus on the five principles which you can learn by repeating after me:

The first part which says "Just for Today" is pronounced:
Kyo dake wa. Repeat after me . . . Kyo dake wa.
The next part says "Don't get angry" and is pronounced:
Okoru-na. Repeat after me . . . Okoru-na.
The next part says "Don't worry" and is pronounced:
Sinpai suna. Repeat after me . . . Sinpai suna.
The next part is "Be Grateful" and is pronounced:
Kansha shite. Repeat after me . . . Kansha shite.
The next part is "Work hard" and is pronounced:
Goo hage me. Repeat after me . . . Goo hage me.
The next part is "Be kind to others" and is pronounced:
Hito ni shinsetsu ni. Repeat after me . . . Hito ni shinsetsu ni.

Now lets say all five at once:

Kyo dake wa
Okoru-na
Sinpai suna
Kansha shite
Goo hage me
Hito ni shinsetsu ni

Lets do it again:

Kyo dake wa
Okoru-na
Sinpai suna
Kansha shite
Goo hage me
Hito ni shinsetsu ni

Thank You For Taking The Time To Listen To Chetna's Voice Recording Of Dr. Usui's Five Principles In Japanese!
